This is/was the 8th Street Bridge in Port Blanchard, PA.

It has been the subject of my admiration, awe, and my link to the way things used to be built ... to last.

She's almost completely gone now, replaced by a "modern" concrete bridge.

She stood here silently performing her duties to the human world for 111 years.

She saw horse and buggies start there path across this mighty river, then the first of the automobiles, the Model T. She watched time progress in the human world, growing and expanding.

She stood here silently, growing old with dignity.

On July 7th, 2011 at 12:02 PM .... SHE ROARED!!!

Taken down by a new generation of humans that only know destruction, she bucked against them with all her might. She fell with with grace only known by a generation that time has passed by.

I will miss you old girl.

it's sad. you're right, it feels like this generation of humans know of nothing but destruction and pain and war. there is no simple joy in life anymore, or so it seems.

We had a massive flood here a few weeks ago, debris jammed up the water against the new bridge, flooding the surrounding houses with a foot more water than anywhere else. They are blaming the new bridge since it acted like a dam.

The water and debris just flowed under the old girl as pretty as you please! She didn't fall down even though they blew up half of her! They still haven't set a date to blow up the rest of her. When they do, I'll be there to video and photograph it.
